South River Man Charged in Armed Robbery of Main Street Gas Station; Second Suspect Still Sought

SAYREVILLE — The Sayreville Police Department has filed charges against a South River man in connection with the January 16, 2026 armed robbery of the Delta Gas Station at 350 Main Street.

Police said that at approximately 8:44 p.m., two males approached a gas station attendant, sprayed him with pepper spray, and took cash he had in his possession. The suspects then fled the scene on foot toward Hillside Avenue.

An investigation by the Sayreville Police Department Detective Bureau determined that a similar robbery had taken place in South River on January 2, 2026. Through coordination with the South River Police Department Detective Bureau, authorities identified Fernando Ramos Garcia, 30, of South River, as one of the suspects.

Garcia was arrested on February 5, 2026, at his residence in South River.

He has been charged with robbery, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon.

Police said the investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue efforts to identify and apprehend the second suspect.

Garcia is currently lodged at the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center pending further court proceedings. He is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
