Sayreville Mourns Loss of Beloved Borough Employee Carol Leigh Womack
SAYREVILLE, NJ – The Sayreville Borough Council honored the life of Carol Leigh Womack during its March 9 meeting. Womack, a dedicated borough employee and valued member of the Sayreville Police Department family, passed away in early March at the age of 37.
Mayor Kennedy O’Brien described Womack as “a wonderful human being who brought light to everyone around her. She was a credit to the borough and to her colleagues, and she will be deeply missed.” He noted her family’s public service legacy, adding, “Her father has been the longtime mayor of North Brunswick.”
Councilman Herve Blemur reflected on her professional impact, saying, “The public safety complex is in mourning for her loss. Please keep her and her family in your thoughts and prayers.”
A Life of Talent and Dedication

She continued her studies at West Virginia University, focusing on performing arts and opera, and participated in an elite opera program in Spoleto, Italy.
Professionally, Womack was admired for her dedication and warmth at the Sayreville Police Department. “Carol was more than a colleague. She was a steady presence, a source of warmth, and someone who made even the hardest days feel lighter,” the department shared. “Losing her leaves a void that cannot be filled. She truly embodied service, heart, and humanity.”
