SAYREVILLE, NJ — The Sayreville Police Department is investigating allegations involving an employee connected to the Sayreville Board of Education, according to officials.

Police said officers responded to Sayreville War Memorial High School on April 9 after receiving reports of concerning allegations. Authorities have not released specific details about the nature of the allegations, citing the ongoing investigation.

The employee has been placed on leave and no longer has access to any Board of Education facilities while the investigation is underway.

Officials said the investigation is being conducted in coordination with the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office and other law enforcement agencies to ensure a thorough and legally sound review of the matter.

In a statement to The Sayreville Insider, Superintendent Dr. Richard Labbe said the district is cooperating with authorities.

“While we are not permitted to discuss matters pertaining to personnel, we are troubled by and deeply concerned about the recent allegations and are cooperating fully with law enforcement in their ongoing investigation,” Labbe said.

The Sayreville Police Department emphasized that it takes all allegations seriously and that the safety and well-being of the community remains a top priority. Authorities also asked for the public’s patience as investigators continue their work.

Police noted they are aware of the involvement of an online group related to the situation, cautioning that unauthorized actions can create risks for victims, witnesses, and investigators, and may compromise the integrity of the case.

“Law enforcement investigations are complex and require strict adherence to legal procedures,” the department said, adding that trained professionals are handling the matter in a way that protects the rights of all individuals while building a case, if warranted.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Detective Chris Raub at 732-525-5413.

The department also thanked the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Sayreville Board of Education for their cooperation and assistance.

As with any investigation, officials noted that all individuals are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

The Sayreville Insider will continue to follow this developing story and provide updates as more information becomes available.
