“Understanding the Impact of Data Centers: An Informational Session and Q&A” is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19, at the library, located at 1050 Washington Road in Parlin.

The program is being presented by the New Jersey Environmental Justice Alliance.

According to information provided by organizers, the presentation will discuss concerns surrounding data center development and give attendees an opportunity to ask questions.

“Join the New Jersey Environmental Justice Alliance for an educational presentation to further understand the environmental and public health effects of data centers in your community,” the event description states.

Data Centers Under Discussion In Sayreville

The session comes as Sayreville officials examine the possible effects of data center development in the borough.

During the Sayreville Economic Redevelopment Agency’s Sept. 10 meeting, officials identified electricity demand, water consumption and noise as three areas requiring technical review.

SERA commissioners subsequently authorized the agency to seek proposals from licensed engineering professionals who could advise the agency and assist the borough’s Environmental Commission.

The Oct. 19 program is being presented independently by the New Jersey Environmental Justice Alliance and is not identified as a borough or SERA meeting.

How To Attend

The informational session is free, but registration is available online.
